Key Features Of STANDARD Silver Masterbatch

Silver masterbatch is a product obtained by using carrier resin and aluminum-silver powder as raw materials, and it is usually better to add some dispersants to extrude granulation. The carrier resins that can be made are PE, PP, PBAT, PA6, PLA, TPU, etc.

Aluminum-silver powder is a metallic material. It is made by mixing two metal particles, aluminum and silver, which has good reflective properties and is able to refract light, giving the object a shiny silvery-white color.

Using aluminum-silver masterbatch as a method of part color matching and overall color mixing can achieve better results in color effect and visual effect, and can increase the preciousness and ornamentality of plastic products.

Silver Masterbatches Can be widely used in Many Industries

Silver masterbatches are widely used in many fields of people's daily life, including injection molding spray-free products, automotive parts, electric appliance and other products, various blown films, agricultural films, degradable films, pipes and other plastic products.

Silver Masterbatch vs. Silver Antibacterial Masterbatch

Comparison Table

DimensionSilver MasterbatchSilver Antibacterial Masterbatch
Core FunctionGives plastic a metallic silver lookSilver appearance + antibacterial / anti-microbial effect
Main IngredientsCarrier resin + aluminum pigment or pearlescent powderCarrier resin + aluminum/pearlescent pigment + antibacterial agent
Typical ApplicationsToys, home-appliance housings, automotive interior parts, stationery, electronicsMedical housings, food packaging, personal-care packaging, baby-care products
Processing NotesMainly focus on even dispersion and avoiding scratchesBesides dispersion, the antibacterial agent must stay active under your processing temp
CostLowerSlightly higher because antibacterial agents are more expensive and must meet FDA/ISO rules

Does the antibacterial additive affect the silver gloss?

Most antibacterial agents are added in very small amounts (usually under 1–3%).

If the antibacterial powder is transparent or white, the impact on the surface gloss is minimal.

The key points are:

  • Dispersion must be uniform.

  • If the antibacterial agent clumps in one spot, it can cause dull areas or color shift.

  • The carrier resin needs to match both the antibacterial agent and the metallic pigment.

  • This keeps the melt flow stable so your final part still looks smooth and shiny.

  • High-quality formulations control particle size well, so the antibacterial agent doesn't "block" the metallic shine.

In short: with proper formulation and processing, the silver gloss basically won't drop in any noticeable way.

But, if the processing temperature is too high, some antibacterial additives may start to degrade, and then the antibacterial effect will weaken.

How to choose between the two?

1 If the product only needs high gloss, then the regular silver masterbatch is the best choice.

2 If the product has hygiene or skin-contact requirements (medical, food, baby-care), then the silver antibacterial masterbatch is more suitable.

STANDARD's antibacterial silver masterbatch is formulated to keep the metallic brightness while ensuring antibacterial performance.

STANDARD gives perfect compatibility between resin and aluminum-silver powder

Due to the certain differences in the properties of resin and aluminum-silver powder, it is not easy for them to combine in some aspects. By improving the formulation and production process, Standard Ploymer gradually discovered new ways to mix carrier resins and aluminum-silver powders. Aluminium-silver powders are surface treated to improve their compatibility and adhesion. Through chemical treatment, they are easier to bind and remain stably dispersed in plastic products without odor.

STANDARD Silver Masterbatches – Purchasing Guide for New Buyers

Step 1: Clarify your basic requirements

Please confirm these points before talking to any supplier (including us):

  • Base resin: PP, PE, ABS, PC, TPU, EVA… (Silver master batch must match the resin system.)

  • Processing method: injection / extrusion / blow molding

  • Appearance: gloss level, brightness, reflective strength, pearlescent / semi-transparent effects

  • Functional needs: antibacterial? anti-UV? anti-scratch?

  • Processing temperature: ensures the pigment and additives won't degrade

  • Dosage: normally 2–5%, but depends on the effect

Step 2: Contact STANDARD for technical matching

Send us an email or give us a call.

Just tell us your resin, processing temp, product photo (if any), and we'll quickly suggest the right grade.

STANDARD Silver Masterbatch — FAQ

Q1: What's the main advantage of STANDARD's silver masterbatch?
  • High metallic gloss — we use selected aluminum pigments or pearlescent powders with optimized particle size and dispersion.

  • Stable batch-to-batch color — 16 years of compounding experience plus strict QC.

  • Wide processing compatibility — suitable for PP, PE, ABS, PC, TPU, EVA… for injection, extrusion, blow molding, etc.

Q2: How do you keep batch consistency?

Every batch goes through raw-material check, pre-mixing, melt-mixing, gloss/color monitoring, and final inspection.

We provide COA and ΔE color reports so your mass production stays stable.

Q3: Can I customize gloss level or special effects?

Yes.

You can send us a sample or Pantone number. We can adjust raw material size, metallic ratio, gloss level, and provide semi-transparent, pearlescent, or sparkle effects.

Q4: Do you support small MOQ or urgent orders?

Yes.

We offer fast sampling, trial production, and priority scheduling when needed—plus full technical support.

Q5: How do you match my resin and processing method?

Just tell us your resin (PP/PE/ABS/PC/TPU…), processing temp, and process type.

We will tune the carrier resin and master batch ratio so the gloss, dispersion and stability stay at their best.
